About Us

We will work with you to really understand your business so we can seek the right opportunities to secure the money you need to grow.

Accessing funding to support growth is the corner stone of any business. Over the past decade, the landscape for this has dramatically changed and businesses are no longer restricted to accessing finance from banks alone. Now, with the right help, businesses can benefit from access to over 150 regulatory-approved funders, many of whom have less stringent acceptance criteria than the banks. By working with us at Evangate, you will be able to access a wide range of funding options that you may have previously been unaware of.

Additionally, the banks’ move towards delivering a more digital customer experience has seen a departure from traditional high street branches fronted by a local manager to support business needs. At Evangate, we recognise the importance of having that personal, one-to-one contact with an experienced advisor you trust, and we pride ourselves on building long-lasting relationships.

We will work with you to really understand your business so we can seek the right opportunities to secure the money you need to grow.

With over 20 years’ experience in providing finance for small-medium businesses, and working with trusted finance providers, we will build you a tailored finance solution that will have a decision in principle to you within 48 hours of having all necessary documentation.

And, as a member of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB), you can rest assured that your business is always in safe hands.

The name Evangate is a combination of Evanton (the village in the Scottish Highlands that my wife comes from), and Bathgate (where I grew up). On the hill behind Evanton sits the Fyrish monument- a trio of archways flanked by uneven pillars on the slopes of Easter Ross. When I learned about the history of this monument, it really resonated with me.

Built in 1782 on the authority of Sir Hector Munro, Fyrish is modelled on the Gate of Negapatam in Madras, where Munro had served with the British Army in India. On his retirement, Sir Hector instructed local labourers to build the monument in its image.

But this was more than just a nostalgic whim.

Sir Hector was a native of Evanton during a period when local Highlanders were being driven off the land in a process known as ‘The Highland Clearances”. Local unemployment was high, and Sir Hector’s commission gave much-needed employment to the locals. Rumour has it that Sir Hector even rolled stones back down the hill to give the labourers more work to do.

The ethos of helping those in need really struck a chord with me and led to me choosing the outline of Fyrish as our company logo.

Sir Hector rolled up his sleeves and made sure the work was as profitable as possible for the people he was trying to help – and this is reflected in the way we operate at Evangate.

Our aim is to assist small-medium businesses by providing the funding they require to grow.

You’re probably wondering – Why didn’t you call your business Fyrish Financial Services?

Well, as acronyms go, it’s not the best….
